Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is the key facilitator in the decarbonisation of air travel without compromising jet engine performance. A single SAF plant will decarbonise 1,600 transatlantic flights – the equivalent of 16,000 flight hours – removing 165kt per annum of CO² from the UK’s skies.

Market: UK’s jet fuel consumption in 2023 was almost 14 billion litres per annum.
Volume: SAF accounted for just 0.28% of the total fuel supplied in 2023, compared to 0.10% in 2022.
Mandate: SAF demand is expected to reach 287.5 million litres per annum by 2025, increasing to 1.5 billion litres by 2030.
